IUFRO Breeding theory and progeny testing

Although this IUFRO unit is called Breeding theory and progeny testing, we are hoping to cover much more in this site. Most people working in the 'core' topics of the unit are also actively involved in operational tree breeding programmes, use of advanced reproductive techniques, applications of molecular information to breeding and conservation efforts and teaching. If you work or study any of these areas you are welcome to use and join this site: researchers, breeders, university students have a place here.

All the information contained in this web pages can be viewed without any kind of registration. However, only registered users can post news stories, calendar events and forum threads.

Registration process

It is very simple to register:

1. Follow the 'create new account' link under the 'user login' box.
2. Enter a login name. Please use your real name like John Smith, Carlos Santana or Yukio Mishima.
3. Enter a password that you will remember. This password will be encrypted by the server and it is not visible to anybody else.
4. Press the 'create new account' button.

Your request will go to the site administrator and be approved as soon as possible (it may take a day due to time differences). This delay is to avoid fake registrations by spammers.

Once your account is approved please fill out your professional information, which will be available to the rest of the members of the site (except for your email address, which is always confidential to avoid spam).

Language

The language used in this site is English. Please avoid posting using other languages, although you are welcome to link resources written in languages other than English. We understand that other languages are very important (for all coordinators of this unit English is our second language) but using English increases the chances of other people understanding what you want to say. Do not feel afraid because your English is far from perfect, so it is ours.

Please be always polite, avoid obscenities, intellectual bullying and annoying other users of the site. If you persist with this attitude your account will be cancelled.

Privacy

We will not pass your registration information to third parties, telemarketers, spammers, etc. You can change your information at any time by accessing the 'my account' menu.

All material posted to this site, including newsletter articles, new posts, calendar events and forum threads are made available under a Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial NoDerivs 2.5 licence. Thus, visitors are free to to copy, distribute, display, and perform the work subject to attributing authorship, not having a commercial purpose and not altering the content.
